Michael, Michael, Michael.

The word collaborator has a specific definition and it is not as you describe. It is true that collaborator was used to describe such people but, come on. It wasn't the word's fault, let it do it's job, will ya?

But seriously, any European still alive from those years *might* raise an eyebrow but will probably smile when they hear the tale of how the beer was named.

I suggest you crack open a cool one, google "collaborate + Open Source Software", and put more energy into making the world we live in a better place rather than anchoring it down with the mistakes of our past.

Peace.

Collaborator ? Not a very nice name for a beer that could be sold in Europe. In Europe, Collaborator is the name for people who used to work together with the Germans during WW II.. Most of them were either executed or fled to South America... Not very Doggy Style to name a beer after people who betrayed their country in wartime..

[...] Well, things have apparently been going gang-busters. They’ve worked out a recipe and now, most importantly, have chosen a name. We have decided on a name for the Open Source Beer. Keeping in line with the tradition of Doppelbock names ending in “ATOR” (see the 9th paragraph), the Open Source Beer will be called “Collaborator” as a tribute to all of those that helped us create the recipe.
